Background and Keywords
I have academic and commercial experience
working with numerical optimization, statistical learning theory, computer vision, and 3D reconstruction.
My current focus is on building up an ecosystem for deploying scientific computing and HPC tools and pipelines within the framework of "pure functional package management",
i.e. within the "immutable store" model as implemented by Nix and Guix.
Deploying software the "Nix way" means recovering the user's control over how their entire software stack is provisioned from source;
making implicit dependencies (such as external "cloud" services) explicit,
and non-deterministic behaviour (such as dynamic library loading) predictable;
improving software's reliability, the supply chain's transparency, and the user's self-reliance.
